ICC OKs PCB Preparation for Champions Trophy 2025 – In its meeting with the Pakistan Cricket Board officials from Pakistan, ICC officials appreciated the arrangements made by Pakistan for this mega event.
ICC Meeting with PCB in Dubai
According to the PCB, the meeting with the ICC officials was held in a very good environment. Moreover, the plans were discussed during an ICC meeting attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. PCB officials assured the ICC board that the upgrades to the stadiums, like total overhauling of New Qadafi Stadium of Lahore and partial overhauling of Rawalpindi and Karachi stadiums scheduled to host the event are progressing well. The remaining work will be completed on time, according to sources.
Furthermore, Mohsin Naqvi the Chairman PCB also extended an invitation to the ICC board members to visit Pakistan and assess the preparations for the major tournament, which will take place next year. He further invited them to attend the event once it begins. So, the meeting was in a friendly environment.
This mega tournament is scheduled to run from February 19 to March 9, 2025, in Pakistan. However, the country has faced challenges, including uncertainty over the participation of the Indian cricket team.
Indian Cricket Team visit to Pakistan
On the other side, Indian cricket team is one of the squads of champions trophy 2025. And Indian team is still waiting for the approval of government to travel to Pakistan for this mega tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting approval from the Indian government for the team’s visit to Pakistan for the tournament.
Previously, the PCB suggested that the Indian team could return to their country after each match to limit their stay in Pakistan during the 2025 Champions Trophy. But this option seem not suitable for Indian team because playing a 7 to 8 hours match and then travelling back to India is difficult for the team players.
It’s worth noting that India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13, and India last visited Pakistan in 2008.
