ICC Champions Trophy and ICC ODI World Cup have many similarities. Both cricket formats are almost same in various scenarios. First of all Champions Trophy was first of all established in the year 1998. And historically, this tournament was not played and arranged regularly.
On the other side, the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup is the flagship project and event of ICC. This event is arranged systematically after the interval of four years.
Both these international events are mega events and millions of people across the world wait for this event to watch.
Champions Trophy Format
First of all, the Champions Trophy is a smaller tournament than the ODI World Cup, featuring eight teams that compete in a Round-robin Format leading to knockout rounds.
Interestingly, the ICC announced in 2the year 2013 that the 2017 edition would be the last. However, in 2014, recognizing its popularity, they reversed that decision, and the tournament was successfully held again in 2017 in England. This edition of the Championship was wom by Pakistan by beating the team India.
Further, the next edition is set to take place in Pakistan in the year 2025. This mega event will be hosted by solely Pakistan in three major cities.

ODI World Cup
ODI ICC World Cup is the oldest cricket format. The cricket format is one of the most beloved and watched ICC tournaments.
This international tournament lasting nearly two months and featuring almost 10 to 14 teams vying for the prestigious trophy. In 2023, 10 teams competed, with Australia triumphing over India in the final held in Ahmedabad.
Since its inception in the year 1975 in England, it has evolved, moving from being organized by the Test and County Cricket Board to the English Cricket Board. In fact, England is the inventor of Cricket game. The tournament underwent a significant change in 1987 when it was co-hosted by India and Pakistan as the “Reliance Cup.” It is regarded as the premier event on the international cricket calendar.
Prize Money for Champions Trophy
There is considerable amount that offered to the winner and runner up of Champions Trophy Tournament. Prize money for the Champions Trophy varies with each edition. In the last two events, the 2017 tournament had a prize of $4.5 million (approximately 37 crore Pakistani/Indian rupees), while the 2013 edition offered $2 million, equating to about 17 crore rupees in 2024.
